Store Policy

Thank you for choosing AP Martinez Record Store for your music needs. Please take a moment to review our store policies.

Used Media:

We thoroughly inspect and grade our used media using the Goldmine standard to ensure the highest quality possible. Below is a list of grades. 

​

  • Mint (M) – Absolutely perfect in every way. Never been played and usually sealed.

​

  • Near Mint (NM) – The record has been on a shelf between other records. The vinyl looks glossy and clearly has only been played a few times. There are no marks on the vinyl and the whole package is complete.

​

  • Very Good Plus, Plus (VG++) – A record that appears to have been bought and never played. The surface looks untouched, glossy and without any blemishes.  The cover might have minor wear that comes from sitting around collecting dust for a long period of time.

​

  • Very Good Plus (VG+) – A few further faults are acceptable, but nothing that really compromises the record visually or audibly. A little rub, light inaudible marks, a little background crackle.

​

  • Very Good (VG) – It’s seen a bit of life, but is still usable. Light pops and clicks, an edge split, light visible scratches. You can still listen to it and enjoy looking at it, but it is visually and audibly USED.

​

  • Good (G) – A record in Good condition can be played through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear. A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear, or other defects will be present.

​

Shipping and Handling:

  • Our team works diligently to process and handle your orders promptly. Most orders are shipped out within 48 hours (except on weekends) via Media Mail. Customers will be provided with a tracking number to follow their packages. If you have any specific shipping requests or concerns, please contact us at apmartinezrecords@gmail.com.

Local Drop-Off:

  • For customers within a 20 mile radius of zip code 60638, we offer a local drop-off option. This service is subject to availability, and additional charges may apply based on distance. Please contact us to arrange a local drop-off.

Refunds/Returns:

  • All sales are considered final.

  • All merchandise is guaranteed to be in the condition stated. If an item is "new", it is guaranteed to be free from manufacturer defects. If an item is used, it is guaranteed to be in the condition stated in grades for used vinyl & CDs (near mint, very good, etc.), 

  • Returns must be authorized: before they items are returned, customers should contact us for approval. Unauthorized returns will not be accepted or refunded. All possible returns should be discussed before any action is taken. You can reach us at apmartinezrecords@gmail.com. For defective, damaged, or incorrect merchandise we will generally require photographs or a brief video illustrating the situation. Shipping an item back will be the sole financial responsibilty of the customer. Return should inlcude all items including all original packaging. 

  • Timeliness of return: All return matters must be handled in a timely fashion. Customers have 1 week from the receipt of the order to communicate with us regarding any complaints. It is important that all items are inspected upon receiving the order, and that any complaints are directed to us immediately. Once a return request has been made, the customer has 1 week to return the merchandise for a replacement.

  • Defects: If a new sealed record, CD or Tape purchased is defective due to an error by the manufacturer, we will replace that item with another copy. If no copy is available, we will offer a credit for the cost of the item.

  • Misrepresentation: If we accidentally misrepresented one of our titles in a website listing, a return for credit may be proposed at the discretion. Examples of misrepresentation may include the following:

    • Incorrectly listing song titles for a particular release.

    • Incorrectly listing specific material characteristics (gatefold cover, original pressing, etc.) of a particular release.

  • Shipping damage: We are committed to getting you, your media in the best possible condition. All packages are handles with care and padded for extra protection.. We will gladly process a claim for any damage that is large enough to cause a significant change in the playability or collectibility of an item. Damage claims for these problems include: broken records, cracked CDs, warped records, and severely ripped or folded record jackets.

  • We will gladly replace any items that experience major defects from shipping — but we cannot do so for items that involve small cosmetic issues. If you are particulary concerned about the condition of the merchandise you receive that may arise due to shipping and handling, we recommend that you purchase items in person at a local record store where you can inspect them for yourself.

  • Matters of taste: We cannot be held responsible for individual instances of personal taste. Popular music is a wide and varied array of different styles and preferences — and particular likes and dislikes are the province of the individual, not the music industry in general. If a customer is dissatisfied with the artistic component of a specific title, they should take the matter up with the artist who produced the album or CD.

  • Customer errors: We cannot be held responsible for items that were purchased in error by a customer. We will make every effort to help a customer make the right choice when they are looking for a specific title — but once the item has been purchased, we cannot be held responsible if the customer has made a mistake in their choice.

  • Restocking Fee: Any item returned will be subject to a 10% restocking fee charge.

  • These policies are not meant to penalize the customers of AP Martinez Records, but only to ensure that we make the correct choices before purchasing items.
